WTYU.rocks We Tune You Up
Pete Fry is far more than just a voice on the radio — he’s a lifelong musician, bandleader, and all-around rock aficionado with years of experience both on stage and behind the scenes. A talented artist, songwriter, and guitarist, Pete has spent his life immersed in music, and he brings that deep well of knowledge and passion to every episode of “Happy Hour with Pete Fry.”
As the former bandleader of FarCry, Pete has played some of the biggest stages and shared the spotlight with major names in the hard rock scene. He knows exactly what it’s like to be a working musician — from writing and crafting songs with a band to producing albums and overseeing every detail of the final product. Pete’s experience extends well beyond performing; he’s had to collaborate with others, keep a tight schedule, and ensure that every aspect of his band’s operation ran smoothly. His experience in producing records and managing a band means he can relate directly to the musicians in our audience — those grinding it out on stage and in the studio, working hard to keep the music alive.
Currently, Pete serves as Music Director for CMA artist George Becker, further spotlighting his talents and adaptability. Whether it’s rock or country, Pete knows how to lead, create, and produce with finesse — talents he brings to every role he takes on.
And it doesn’t stop there. As the sole proprietor of his scratch-made fare, craft brews & whiskey bar, TapRoom on 19th in Philadelphia, Pete applies his same dedication to excellence in the hospitality world. Running a competitive establishment in a bustling city like Philly isn’t for the faint of heart, but Pete’s hands-on approach to operations — from managing a team to getting behind the bar himself — ensures his customers are always getting the best. Just like with his music, he’s taken the time to educate himself on every detail of the business, curating a top-tier experience for patrons.
With his radio show, “Happy Hour with Pete Fry,” Pete has cultivated a passionate and loyal audience that shares his love for melodic hard rock, glam, and everything in between. His interviews and conversations with artists from around the world bring an insider’s perspective to the listeners, offering more than just the music, but a connection to the lifestyle and struggles of the artists themselves. These engaging conversations have featured legends like Michael Schenker, Kory Clarke (Warrior Soul), David Reece, Steve Newman, Jeff Scott Soto, Ray West (Spread Eagle), Janne Stark, and Chris Laney. Pete’s ability to balance his extensive experience in music, business, and broadcasting makes him a perfect fit for TUNE UP — a well-balanced cocktail of talent, passion, and rock ‘n’ roll.
