Apologies for the delay, folks—still shaking off the holiday hangover, but we’re back and ready to rock! The boss hasn’t let up on the homework, and honestly, I couldn’t be happier. Out of a big stack of tunes, these six stood out and made the cut. Crank ‘em up, let me know what hits hardest, and drop your own Sixpack picks in the comments. Let’s keep the music rolling into the new year!

KK's Six Pack for January 7, 2025

Ace Monroe – “If You’re Gonna Swing”

Ace Monroe delivers a track that demands a fast car and an open road. It’s got the swagger of old-school rock with a modern kick. The groove is undeniable, and the energy is off the charts. Look out for their full album dropping in April—and Ace, fill in those boxes, will ya? More here.

Smith/Kotzen – “Some People”

This track has been out for a while, but let’s give credit where it’s due—bringing it back into the spotlight was a smart move. If you missed it the first time, now’s your chance to catch up, and if you already know it, this is your reminder to revisit. Adrian Smith and Richie Kotzen’s chemistry shines here, blending bluesy grooves, killer guitar work, and smooth vocals into a timeless sound. It’s an instant yes, and these two legends are a duo that shouldn’t slip under anyone’s radar—no excuses!

Buffalo Summer – “Make You Mine”

Buffalo Summer nails the balance between vintage vibes and modern energy. Their soulful, bluesy sound is like a warm hug, but one that rocks. If you’re into Zeppelin or The Black Crowes, you’ll feel right at home here. Big riffs, big heart—this is a must-listen.

Dead Zebras – “All Night Long”

A late-night anthem that’s pure ear candy. Dead Zebras give us a driving rhythm and a chorus you’ll be singing for days. Think 80s-inspired, but fresh—not stuck in the past. This is one for your party playlist.

The Jaded Lips – “Loose Change”

“Loose Change” brings raw, gritty garage rock with a soulful edge. The Jaded Lips remind me of what makes live music magical—unpolished in all the best ways. Based close to my part of the world, these guys are ones to watch.

The New Old – “Vampyre X”

This Detroit band hits with a dark, cinematic vibe that’s straight out of a thriller soundtrack. There’s a flavor of The Cult that comes out in this for me. They’ve got a rough-edged sound that makes you move, even if you’re sitting down.

What do you think of this week’s picks? Which ones hit you hardest? Drop your thoughts—and your own Sixpack—in the comments!
